What an endodontist does
Inside every tooth is soft tissue called the pulp. A deep cavity, a crack or an injury can inflame or infect it, causing pain, swelling or sensitivity that doesn’t go away.
Endodontists treat that tissue so you can keep your natural tooth. It’s the only thing we do, which is why general dentists send us their most difficult cases.
Two to three more years of trainingafter dental school, focused on tooth pain and root canal treatment.
An operating microscope on every caseto find small canals and cracks that are easy to miss.
Low-dose 3D imaging in the officeso we can see the whole root before we start.
Services
Not sure which one you need? Your first visit answers that: we examine the tooth, explain what we find, and give you your options and costs before treatment starts.
We remove inflamed or infected pulp, disinfect the canals and seal them. It feels much like a long filling, and the toothache usually fades within a few days.
A tooth treated years ago can become infected again. We reopen it, clean and reshape the canals, and seal it again.
When infection stays at the tip of a root, a short procedure through the gum removes it and seals the root end, under the microscope.
Sharp pain when you bite, or a jolt from cold, can mean a crack. We find it, tell you whether the tooth can be saved, and treat it before it spreads.
A tooth knocked loose, pushed in or knocked out needs care quickly. For a knocked-out tooth, keep it in milk and come in right away.
Swelling, throbbing pain or a toothache that keeps you up at night. Call as soon as we open: patients with swelling or severe pain are seen that day. After hours, the same number reaches the doctor on call.

What patients and referring dentists can count on, every visit.
We keep time open every day for patients in pain, so a first visit rarely waits more than one or two business days.
The tooth is fully numb before we begin. We check in as we go and pause whenever you raise a hand.
You get a written estimate, including what your insurance is expected to pay, before treatment starts.
Your dentist gets our report and images the day we treat you, so your crown or filling follows without delay.
Our doctors
Dr. Sharpe Wit and Dr. Dew Wit founded Wit’s Endo together and treat every patient themselves.
Co-founder · Endodontist
Dr. Sharpe Wit has treated tooth pain for fifteen years, the last ten as a board-certified endodontist. His focus is diagnosis: cracked teeth, dental injuries and pain that’s hard to pin down.
Co-founder · Endodontist
Dr. Dew Wit practiced general dentistry for six years before his endodontic residency, so he knows what a referring dentist needs back. He leads the practice’s retreatment and apicoectomy care.

Back teeth usually do, to protect them from cracking. Your own dentist places the crown or filling, typically within a few weeks; we tell them what we recommend.
We file claims with most PPO dental plans and give you a written estimate before treatment. See insurance and payment for details.
